The workshop was held in Bangkok, Thailand, on 1-6 December 2003. It was organized by
FAO
with the financial and technical support of the United Nations Environment
Programme (UNEP).
Countries
The workshop was intended for technical individuals from national
institutes involved in land cover mapping. 36 participants from
12 countries attended the workshop:
Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia,
China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal,
Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Viet Nam.
Goals
This initiative aimed to provide participants, who were mainly
officials from national institutes involved in land cover mapping,
with training on land cover mapping, LCCS and other geo-information
technologies, which can be used on both national and regional projects.
The workshop was also used to initiate regional collaborations on GLCN
projects.
