| Regional harmonization programme (RHAP) |

The GLCN RHAP is a process which allows the development of capacity
of national and regional institutions to undertake and use land cover
products at the national and regional scale.
RHAP is based on the experience gathered through GLCN activities over
a number of years. It takes into account that the modification of
national approaches and the adoption of international standards are
long processes that need the involvement and endorsement of numerous
national institutions.
The GLCN RHAP initiatives aim to act as a regional catalyst in engaging
national and international institutions in a clear, transparent and
effective harmonization process with a defined set of stakeholder's
required outputs.
Following is the list of regional programmes that are currently ongoing
or under development:
On going

Himalaya: The Hindu Kush - Karakorum - Himalaya is the
widest and most recent mountain chain in the world. It is located
in areas of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar,
Nepal and Pakistan. Although particularly rich in resources, traditions,
and cultures, this region is particularly vulnerable in sectors such
as environment and policy making.

SADC: Most SADC countries now face a series of critical demographic, social,
economic, agricultural, energy, technological, and institutional transitions
in order to move toward development that is economically, socially, and
environmentally sustainable.
