The workshop was organized by
FAO
with the financial and technical support of the United Nations Environment
Programme (UNEP), the
Government of Italy and the Government of the Netherlands.
Countries
The workshop is intended for technical individuals from national
institutes involved in land cover mapping. Workshop's participants
were envited from the following countries:
Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, Bahamas, Cuba,
Dominica, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique,
Montserrat, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, Turks and
Caicos Islands, British Virgin Islands and Virgin Islands.
Goals
This initiative aims to provide participants, who are mainly officials
from national institutes involved in land cover mapping, with training
on land cover mapping, LCCS and other geo-information technologies,
which can be used on both national and regional projects. The
workshop is also used to initiate regional collaborations on GLCN projects.
