Since January 2003 when the
Africover
portal was developed, and based on a specific
data
distribution and accessing policy, we have been recording requests of
download,
which regard:
- Burundi, Egypt, Eritrea, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania full Datasets (from January 2003)
- Kenya Multipurpose Spatially Aggregated Database (from March 2003)
- Uganda (from April 2003), Sudan (from June 2003)
- DR Congo (from October 2003)
According to the requests, data have been used for the following activities:
- Planning (Land Use and Planning, Development Activities Planning)
- Education
- Research (Activities within Research Institutions)
- Water (Water Conservation, Use and Control)
- Agriculture (Soil and Land Conservation, Pest Control, Crop Monitoring)
- Environment (Forestry, Biodiversity, Wildlife, etc.)
- Monitoring (Food Security, Early Warning)
- Health (Disease control, health infrastructure, vaccination campaigns, etc.)
- other
Requests
By the end of 2008, 8267 requests of data sets are recorded. Their
distribution by country is summarized in the following graph (no.) and table (%):
